MADRID, July 17 - French midfielder Ludovic Giuly has moved from
Barcelona to AS Roma for a fee of up to 4.4 million euros ($6.21
million), the clubs said on Tuesday.
"Barcelona and AS Roma have reached an agreement for the transfer of the
player to the Italian club who will pay... 3.2 million euros plus a
variable fee of up to 1.2 million euros," Barca said on their Web site
(www.fcbarcelona.com).
The 31-year-old joined Barca from Monaco in 2004 after helping the Ligue
1 club reach the Champions League final.
He won two league titles with the Catalans and was part of the side that
beat Arsenal in the Champions League final in 2006 but faded out of
contention last season.
Roma, Serie A runners-up last term, needed attacking reinforcements after
striker Vincenzo Montella joined former club Sampdoria on Monday
following eight years in the Italian capital.
