Per capita consumption of catering reached 576 yuan

(Mar.16) An operation report of the catering industry released by the
Ministry of Commerce revealed that China's catering industry has become a
major force in spurring consumption. In 2004 the growth rate of China's
catering industry was 10 percentage points higher than that of last year,
accounting for 13.9% of total retail sales of consumer goods, thus
causing total retail sales of consumer goods to rise 2.79 percentage
points. According to relative statistics, in 2004, China's per capita
consumption of catering was 576 yuan, up 22.7% year on year.
