Over 500m cell phones to be produced in 2005

According to the initial statistics by the National Development and
Reform Commission, the production volume for the domestic cell phone
manufacturing industry in 2004 was 240 million, but the potential
production capacity was more than 300 million. There are currently more
than 40 new enterprises that are joining the mobile phone production
industry. Together with the current production capacity, the domestic
cell phone output will exceed 500 million, accounting for 80% of total
global demand.
